Military Service Records
Section 17-71-503 of Utah Code ensures that military service records are preserved and accessible to those who need them most. County recorders are required to record official military documents, such as discharge papers, service orders, and honors, at no cost. They must also provide free certified copies of these records to the service member or their immediate family members.
Importantly, these certified copies carry the same legal weight as the original documents in court or official proceedings, making them a reliable and accessible form of evidence when needed.
